2011
Richard (Deek) Deitrick went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2011. He was born February 29, leap year, 1948 to the late Robert and Wilma (Gliba) Deitrick. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Deitrick of Canton, his brother, Bob; sisters Karen Starry, Susan, Sharon and Jeannie.  He will be missed by all of us at Canton Church of God of Prophecy where he faithfully attended for years with his love and support.  As a retired Marine and Viet Nam war veteran, we also appreciate his faithful service for our country.  Deek had a heart of gold so to speak, always caring for the one who was down and out.  There is no one among us at COGOP in Canton that will not miss Deek.

 

2010

Richard Chambers
Richard went home to be with the Lord on Friday December 10, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital after a long illness. Born Oct 3, 1944 in Preston County WV to the late William F and Valley (Nestor) Chambers. He was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Lee Chambers.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorna (Hill) Chambers, Daughters, Lori and Rick Anderson of North Canton, Eileen Chambers, and Beth Chambers of Canton OH.  Sons, Richard Chambers Jr and Casey S Chambers of Canton. Grandchildren, Daniel and Leah Anderson,  Sarah and Scott Wagner, David, Nathan and Jacob Anderson, and Morgan Mayberry. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, Paul and Nola Chambers, Robert and Jenny Chambers, Franklin and Delores Chambers of Tunnelton WV, Sam and Roberta Chambers of Akron, Jim and Janet Chambers and Dan Chambers of WV. Three sisters, Joann and Lawrence Stieringer of Morgantown WV, Janet Chambers of Tunnelton, WV, and Patricia and Greg Morgan of Maryland. Richard was retired from Gentzler Tool & Die of Unniontown Ohio.  He was a resident of Canton since 1999 and previously resided in Akron since 1962.

2010

Gracie M. Burge
Member of Canton Community Church of Canton Ohio, (Church of God of Prophecy), Gracie Burge went home to be with the Lord at the age of 70, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Legends Care Center after an extended illness.  Gracie was born on December 29, 1939 in Candier, Pennsylvania to the late Daniel and Mildred (Elliot) Ritchie. She lived in Canton Ohio most of her life.  She was retired from Graco Products in 2002.

Preceded in death by her husband, George Burge; three brothers and three sisters. Survived by four children and spouses, George D. and Mary Burge of Bluefield, Va., Carrie Burge of Canton, Nancy and John Varansky of Canton, David and Kim Burge of Malvern; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Ritchie and Tom Ritchie both of Canton; one sister, Mary Roudenbush of Canton.


Funeral services will be Friday, March 5, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Arnold Mullins officiating. Interment in Eden Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to In House Hospice, 1530 West Market St., Akron, OH. 44313.

Gloria J Ryder
Went home to be with the Lord after an extended illness on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the age of  68  in Affinity Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born April 17, 1941 in Charleston, W. Va., daughter to the late Amos and Mae (Clark) Totten and had lived most of her life in Canton, more recently residing with her nephew, Karl (Tammie) Wheeler. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Canton Community Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Totten; two sisters, Ethel Calhoun, Janet Shantz; and special nephew, Khris Wheeler.


She is survived by her daughter, Robin Miller of Canton; brothers, Gary Totten of Bolivar, Jim (Elaine) Totten of Green; sister, Irene (Pete) Wheeler of Canton; granddaughter, Angela Howell of Brewster; grandson, Matthew Mick of Carrollton; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and 24 nieces and nephews also surviving. She also has many dear friends that will miss her greatly. Her wishes were to be cremated and services will be private for the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel.

2007

Hazel O. Glover

A long time member of the Canton Church of God of Prophecy went home to be with the Lord at the age of 96 on Monday April 30, 2007. She was residing at the Pines Care Center and passed away following an extended illness. Hazel was born in Cleveland Tennessee on July 4, 1910 to the late Hardin and Elizabeth Irwin. She was a loving, praying mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She precedes her husband, Clarence D Glover who passed away in 1990 and a son Glen Glover in 2003, two brothers, Douglas and Daniel Irwin. She is survived by sons, Donal, DeWayne and Gary (Barbara) Glover. Funeral was at Reed Funeral Home in Canton Ohio and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery.

2006

June E. Morrison, age 76, of Canton died Saturday, May 27, 2006 in Manor Care following an extended illness. Born August 24, 1929 in Pennsylvania to the late Charles W. and Lucinda (Carter) Martz. She was a Canton area resident since 1952 and member of Canton Community Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Harry L. Morrison in 1985; two sisters, Violet Morrison and Alva Martz; one brother, Charles Martz, Jr. Survived by two daughters, Wanda and Darlene Morrison both of the home; one brother, Wilbert Martz of Myersdale, PA; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Arnold Mullins officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

2002

Rosealie Emery, age 78, of Navarre, OH, passed away Monday afternoon at the home following a brief illness. Born in Moundsville, WV, on July 27, 1923 she was a retired employee of Aultman Hospital. She was a member of the Canton Community Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Edith Morgan; her daughter, Sandra Harmon and her husband, Earl Emery who passed away February 7, 2001. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur Emery of Navarre, John Emery of the home, David Emery of Navarre and Jeff and Estella Emery of Bolivar, OH; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Irene West of Marietta, OH, Louise Smith of Charlotte, NC, Betty Haught of Dart, OH, Norma Pierce of FL, Bonnie Tustin of Canton, Shirley Drake of Canton and Reah Brooks of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Canton Community Church, 3500 Sherman Church Ave. SW, Canton, OH with Rev. Joshua J. Black, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral Home on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour before services at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m.

2001

Arlie M. McKinney, age 65, of Massillon, died Thursday morning, December 27, 2001 in his home following an extended illness. He was bornAugust 14, 1936 in Wolf Summit, WV and had resided in the Massillon area most of his life. He was a former member of the West Virginia National Guard. Mr. McKinney was employed in the shipping department of the Timken Company for 22 years, retiring in 1989 due to illness. He attended the Canton Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Thelma McKinney. He is survived by his wife, Peggy McKinney, to whom he was married for 46 years; his daughters and sons-in-law, Vanessa and Daniel Bradley of Atwater, OH, Alicia and Denzil Mayle of Canton, Karmen McKinney and Stephanie McKinney, both of Massillon; seven grandchildren; and brother, Richard McKinney of Massillon. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Joshua Black officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be Sunday

James J. Jacobsen, 79, of Canton, OH, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning at the home. Born in Canton on March 13, 1922 he was a retired employee of White Engines in Canton. He was a member of the Canton Community Church and a Deacon of the Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Elmira Jacobsen who passed away May 14, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Scherm and Laura Jacobsen; three sisters, Margaret Caron, Alice Bower and Doris Dale; and three brothers, Elmer, Raymond and Niles Peter Jacobsen. Survivors include four children, Debra Sue McCray, Marsha Szekeres, John L. Jacobsen and Erin L. Jacobsen all of Canton; a brother, Robert Jacobsen of Garden City, NV; and sister, Agnes Jacobsen of Canton; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Canton Community Church, 3500 Sherman Church Ave SW, Canton with Rev. Joshua J. Black, Sr. and Rev. William Mathews officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral Home on Tuesday evening (TONIGHT) 7-9 p.m. and one hour before the services at the church on Wednesday from 12-1 p.m  (Passed away September 30, 2001)

Former pastor of Canton Church of God of Prophecy, Aubrey Donahue

Rev. Aubrey W. Donahue, age 69 of Massillon went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 7, 2000 in the residence. Born in Columbus, GA, February 24, 1931 to his parents the late Vester and Margaret Alice (Spradlen) Donahue, he has been a resident of the Canton area since August 1979. Rev. Donahue was founder and pastor of Faith Fellowship Chapel in Canton. Survivors include his loving wife, Alice Joyce (George) Donahue of the home to whom he would have been married 44 years, December 28, 2000; his daughter, A. Cheryl Donahue of Pleasant View, TN; six brothers, Rev. V. Samuel Donahue of Princeton, KY, Rev. John P. Donahue of Auburndale, FL, Rev. J. Malcolm Donahue of Louisville, KY, Rev. James N. Donahue of Columbus, GA, Robert Donahue of Atlanta, GA, and Daniel L. Donahue of Columbus, GA. There are numerous nieces and nephews also surviving. Memorial services will be conducted Sunday, July 9, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. in the Faith Fellowship Chapel, 6282 Nave Street SW, Canton, OH. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, GA. Calling hours at the REED Funeral Home, Sunday 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
